Norm Bradshaw drove out to the lake on Saturday March 24th and found the salt good condition and almost ready to race.
Tony Cooke and Smurf did the official pre-race inspection and as you can see by the photos there was no way it was going to dry out in time, the meeting for the 19-23/03/2012 was cancelled after this inspection.
200mm of water at the ramp and continuing out to the track area.
Irregular patches all over the area that when you ground your bare foot into revealed red to black mud between 25 to 50mm deep!!
The salt crust surrounding the patches of mud could easily be lifted up as it was only 5 to 10mm thick.
Mud that was under thin the salt crust.

here is the aerial view taken at the same time as the lake inspection on 9th March. As you can see, there is still a huge amount of water lying there. (Photo: Scott Lewis)
Road was opened to 4WD on Friday 2nd March 2012. Inspection made by air on the 3rd March 2012. See footage on YouTube. Shows water over the majority of the lake, but no idea how deep. (Scott Lewis)
